Situated on the cobblestoned Main Street in Minneapolis, Aster Cafe has been a staple to the Saint Anthony Main neighborhood since 2001. To help keep this classic dining location relevant, we were tasked with updating the menus and some branding materials.

We set out to deliver designs that embraced the Aster’s quirkiness and history. We took notes: the iron harlequin that welcomes you in, the scent of palo santo hanging in the air, the dimly lit dining space, live local music filling the room.

We complemented the restaurant’s unique atmosphere by creating a playful set of menus in a royal palette complete with illustrations inspired by a medieval tarot deck.
